5 Connectivity Trends That Will Shape the Future of the Automotive Industry

5 Connectivity Trends That Will Shape the Future of the Automotive Industry

5 Connectivity Trends That Will Shape the Future of the Automotive Industry - Innovation is already behind the wheel of the modern automobiles. Yes, smart connectivity is now shaping the automotive sector in a never before way. While some of these technologies are already on the verge of becoming mainstream, there are other technologies that are just on their nascent state and are on the making. Most automotive management services predict that together these technologies will shape the future of the connected automobiles of the future.

Here are the 5 trends that will shape the future of the connectivity in automotive industry.

1. Self-driving cars
Self-driving cars that can run on the road without the intervention of the driver behind the wheel is already a reality with several automakers having come with their respective models of such cars. Already out through several successful test-runs Driverless cars truly holds the future of the automobile in the world. But according to expertise of leading automotive management services, driverless cars in spite of being already a reality, still a decade or so is required for such cars to become public and hit the road as regular vehicles.

2. AI-powered car infotainment systems
The infotainment systems of the modern cars are increasingly getting powerful and responsive and already they are all apt to respond to most regular commands including voice commands. The AI-powered virtual assistants will rule the future car infotainment systems of the cars to respond to passengers and driver in more responsive ways. AI is supposed to be introduced in the car infotainment systems of the future cars in just one or two years from now.

3. Blockchain-Powered Maintenance and Repair
We all are aware how the counterfeit car parts cause performance failure and in the long run damage vehicles. But as of now, in many countries to prevent such counterfeit parts entering the market there is no trusted system in place. In this respect, Blockchain based maintenance and repair mechanism can really play a revolutionary role in authenticating car parts. Blockchain which as a distributed ledger system allows no deletion or tampering of data while offering open and widespread access to data can actually help to authenticate car parts through an easily accessible distributed ledger of car parts.

4. Vehicle-to-Vehicle Connectivity
Vehicle to Vehicle connectivity commonly referred to as V2V technology allows cars on the road sharing information and keeping in touch with each other. On the road, a car can share information concerning speed, traffic, road conditions, any dangerous threats, etc. Automotive management services maintains that such V2V communication not only dramatically improves car safety and security it also actively helps cars avoiding routes that may take longer to reach the destination because of the heavy traffic. Already some cars are having a better in-car communication system and there are already highly equipped fleet management systems in place. All these together will shape the fully equipped Vehicle to Vehicle connectivity system of the future.

5. AR powered maintenance
Augmented Reality technology which already penetrated many industries and niches because of the unique capability of integrating the digital interaction to the real world around. Just like finding the digital game character of Pokemon in a popular AR game like Pokemon Go in an AR powered vehicle repair and maintenance environment the servicemen can render their services with guidance from a digital interface showing each and every part of the car.

A service engineer being able to see the entire car starting from the car seats to the interior features to the engine and bonnet can easily have a guided experience in repairing the entire car. This will help the car industry saving huge on maintenance and services. For customers also, this will ensure more precision, timely service and longer durability of the vehicle.

How Your Business Can Ensure Success in the Experience Economy

How Your Business Can Ensure Success in the Experience Economy

How Your Business Can Ensure Success in the Experience Economy - Way long ago in 1998--yes, that long ago--B. Joseph Pine II and James H. Gilmore published a piece in Harvard Business Review (link at the end of this article) that the experience economy had arrived. And, sure, in 20th Century terms, it had. As they explained in their article, the progression began with families buying items, such as Betty Crocker, because there was less kitchen time to prepare the ingredients for a child's birthday cake. Then parents started going to the bakery store to pick up cakes for their kids and no longer making the cake at home. And, eventually in the late part of the 20th Century, with more work and other demands, families started to outsource the entire birthday to soup-to-nuts groups that did everything, such as Chuck E. Cheese and the Discovery Zone.

And now we're in the 21st Century, and experience matters even more and companies are beginning to try out different technologies, for instance, virtual reality and augmented reality. Major corporations, such as Facebook and Apple, have made substantial investments into those technologies because the future is coming quickly and I wouldn't be surprised if in 2018 we see some other global experience, such as Pokémon Go.

Smart marketers understand that creating an experience--with technology--is essential to being able to sell a product or service in today's world. So, how do you do it?

a. Customer Experience Continuum
An essential activity to create an excellent customer experience program is not only to have excellent customer service but to go further and understand what your customer experience is from start to finish. From the moment a prospect sends you an email, places a call to your office or messages you in some way, what is the experience your company provides? Understand the entirety of the customer experience from the moment they initially reach out and to what happens after the purchase.

b. Words Matter for Customer Experience Principles
Once you understand the experience that occurs, and more importantly what you want to make sure your leads experience, you have to ask yourself (and your team) to help you develop principles that will guide the experience from start to finish. In this case, words matter. For example, are you looking for your clients to have "fun" while they partner with you? Are you looking for "excellence in communication"? Whatever the words are that matter to you, develop principles around them and ensure everyone on your team is onboard.

c. Data In and What Comes Out?
When you're talking about data, your CRM is everything. You want to make sure your CRM captures everything that is essential to know about your leads and clients. If your team isn't inputting every touchpoint with your customers, accurately, then you're not going to be able to anticipate their needs. Part of the customer experience is to know what your prospects and partners are going to want, even before they want it. As an example, in one of my companies, our former partners get reminders at regular intervals about scheduling their next fundraiser with us.

d. Provide a Sensory Experience
Everyone is used to having many experiences throughout the day. If they're scrolling social media, your leads and clients are being "marketed" to with live streams, videos or images. Corporations are moving toward providing people virtual experiences and with technology tools. Granted, we're in the early stages of these types of moments, but it's already started. If you want to buy a diamond ring, you can see the ring virtually on your hand by supplying a photo. You can also see how furniture will look in your home with apps and a VR headset. Think out of the box and discover creative ways to bring your products and services to market.

e. Net Promoter Score (NPS)
If you're not using it already, consider looking into your Net Promoter Score, or NPS. This measuring tool goes beyond simple customer satisfaction. The index calculation, based on the responses of your customers regarding how likely they would be to recommend you to others, helps you understand and predict future revenue growth. The best type of sales you can make are those based on the recommendations of others, particularly if you can predict revenue growth.

Humans haven't changed since the publication by Pine and Gilmore in the HBR article. The only thing that has changed significantly is how technology has transformed our lives and the world writ large. Humans, however, have always wanted the same thing in a product or service. Consumers want the experience they have with your business to match the expectations they had in their mind when they first inquired about your product or service.

5 Life Planning Steps for Career Professionals

5 Life Planning Steps for Career Professionals

5 Life Planning Steps for Career Professionals - Many people are unfulfilled and trying to get unstuck in their life or career. Often they can't pinpoint why they feel the way they do. They just know they aren't happy, and they may have no idea how to make themselves happy. Our work together is focused on helping them figure out their passion, and their purpose in life (not just in their career) which leads them to more clarity in direction, to take specific action steps and to have a greater sense of control over their life and their career.

If you are currently feeling stuck or lacking direction in your career or in your life, here are 5 life planning steps you can take:

1. Clarify your values
Values are what's most important to you right now. And while values do not change in the short term, they do change throughout your life as you enter and exit various life stages. It's good practice to regularly review your values to ensure you are aligned to what's most important to you. I remember a time early in my corporate career, when career progression was important to me and I worked long hours, took night classes and did what I believed was necessary to get promoted. As I moved into motherhood, I found kids and family were more important to me and while my career was still important, I did forgo career moves that would have meant relocating my family. Later, I left my corporate role in favor of running my own business to create more freedom and flexibility. If you are finding yourself at odds in your career or in your life, it may be that your values have shifted and you haven't yet aligned your life to support what's most important to you right now, in this stage of your life.

2. Identify your passion and purpose
What do you most enjoy doing? Are you doing "it"? Many people believe their passion should be their career. But there are many ways to fulfill your passion even if it's not your main career. I know an artist who is accumulating some amazing pieces of art he sculpts hoping to exhibit them one day. Art is his passion, and yet he earns his living as a teacher. He finds many ways to integrate his passion into his work. For example, he volunteers for set design for school productions, he teaches art during the summer months at a local art studio, and he sculpts in his spare time. If you are one of the lucky ones where you are passionate about the work you do in your career, congratulations. And if you are not, there are still many ways to feed and nurture your passion.

3. Define your goals
Do you have a clear set of goals for this year? And for the next 3-5 years and beyond? Life is a marathon, not a sprint and your life plan should reflect that. A methodical, disciplined approach to realizing your dreams and goals. What do you aspire to be, to have? Even if the goal seems too big or too unattainable, think about and plan for how you can move forward in the direction of what you most desire? Taking regular, baby steps will get you the results you desire eventually. Also, make sure you look at all areas of your life not just your career. Consider: money and finance, relationships, personal and professional development, health and wellness, spirituality, family, fun and recreation, and physical environment.

4. Organize your finances
Do you have a financial plan? Many years as a banker taught me that some goals need to be planned for financially to be achieved. Generally, people don't adequately plan for their future and then live a life of many regrets. You may have a goal to retire at 65 or start a business at some point, but unless you have planned for it financially, it may not be attainable. I worked with a client who desired to leave his corporate job and start a business. Through our coaching work, he determined the amount of money he needed to cover his expenses until his business broke even. He continued with his corporate job long enough to amass the money he would need. While it was not easy to save, be disciplined and continue with his job, it set him up for success and took a lot of pressure off his finances in the early stages of his business. Make sure you have adequately planned for emergencies, set aside monies to realize your goals and plan for your future including your retirement. A good financial plan is an important component of your overall life plan.

5. Create your career plan
No matter where you are on your career path currently... at the start of your career or perhaps nearing the end and thinking about retirement - you need a career plan! A good career plan will include a review of your values, interests, passions, strengths, skills and experience as well as your career goals, options, and opportunities. A good plan will identify and address education/experience gaps, personal and professional development needs as well as available support and mentorship. Having a well thought out plan provides you with focus, direction and the confidence to take action. The better prepared you are for the future, the easier it will be for you to slide into your next career move.

If you wish to live a life of fulfillment and abundance and no regrets, it will take some personal reflection and planning. If you don't have the motivation or know how to do it on your own, seek the assistance of a professional, whether it's a financial advisor to assist you with a financial plan or a professional coach to assist you with your life and career plan, take the first step and get on track to realize your dreams and goals.
